Many people have witnessed me play and the one thing that drives them nuts is the kitchen raise. What is the kitchen raise and how does it work you ask? Well it is quite simple. The players at the game where i play are real tight and the do not like it when someone raise's. So i use that to my advantage. The players will only
play good starting hands and will only limp into pots for 2 dollars with anything. So what i do is go to the kitchen and they ask me what i want to do it is your action. Well of course i know the table all limps so i make it 15 dollars pre flop without looking at my cards. Is this play good or bad. Well for me it is good because it can actually disguise a monster hand. I want action of course but just one player not the whole table. If i get a caller i know that the players are tight so i hope it is all low cards so i can make a move and take the pot down. Now if i wake up on aces after the flop with king 9 4 i go all in and they think i steal the pot. They have king jack and call me of course thinking i was making a play. The problem lately is the catch the darn jack and take the pot down. Then of course i hear the berating and the whole table rooting against me saying well it serves you right from raising form the kitchen. The whole point is i want to take the hand down and win blinds. I i win 10 dollars every time i do that then i will win over 100 dollars for the night, until someone gets braves and tries to crack me. Do not under estimate the kitchen raise it will make you money in the long run. You also stand to lose money but you have to know the players to push. If the player is good he will lay down ace king on the flop with nothing out there. If the player is bad they will stay all the way to the river all for a hope to catch a card and win. This article is for you Jerry the kitchen raise beginner. LOL
may you have big pots,
