There are many tells and bets and things we do in poker. Some times so many people put faith in the reads as i am finding out online that are wrong. The problem we run into is the fact we think our cards have to be the winners because we are holding them and he can not have king 10 to have a straight. Well here are a few tips
i like to help people understand when they are beat in the hand. At first you have a player betting on the flop when there are four cards to a flush on the board. Someone in the hand keeps calling and calling till the river and a big bet in sues. Well what does he or she have? I think is is quite easy they have a flush or they hit a weird straight and finally caught up on the river. Easy lay down. Here is what u have to ask yourself when you bet. Do i have the best hand or do i have the chance for the best hand? You as a player should never say i have the best hand i have an ace high. That is unrealistic. You can tell a player is drawing just by the way he calls you down. Here is the problem a lot of new player do is they think they always have to bet. That's what Doyle's book says bet and bet again. Well here is the problem eventually some one is going to trap you and you lose all your chips and not just a little piece of them. If you bet he call you bet again he calls well now you check he makes a monster play at the pot making it 3/4 pot size bet. What does he have. Well look at how the hand developed bet call bet call check i make a hero play lol. If there is no straight and no flush on the river it is safe to say you have the best hand with top 2 pair so call him. The other time to tell is if someone raises pre flop and you hit top pair with a big ace kicker they move all in on the flop what do you do? Well the reason they move all in is either they have a bigger pair then the board or a set not likely or a straight they are idiots to push. So they have a pair usually smaller than the board. Like the flop is queen 8 4 all rainbow you have ace queen they move all in its is an instant call for me. They have 10s and say i can not believe you called 5 times the blind with that hand and they lose. This game is easy to play in the simple form. When we start bluffing making plays at pots and over thinking is when we start to lose the game and the concept. The concept is simple deceive the other players and make them think you always play monsters. Everyone thinks in this game has to bet and that is where we lose site of how to play. The only people that are going to call you either think they have you beat or think they can beat you by the river. Watch out for these people trying to make plays and take your chips. When you are beat you are beat. You do not have to call your last 165 chips in a tournament when the player hits a flush on the river and you have top pair. Save those chips and hope to double up through the guy and grind out your tournament. You will make it farther and farther in the tournament until you win just because you saved those little chips. When someone just sits there and talks a lot they are usually scared so you probably have them beat but when you ask them will they show and they say no. They want you to call and have the best hand. Try to remember that one it works a lot. These are like a couple tips and i hope they help you at the table.
